Tempting Job Offers? Wait! This could be a job fraud!

Many of our Saathis who apply to India Action Project ask us – “Do we have to pay any registration fee?”

On hearing this question, we remember the stories of lakhs of young people in India who have been defrauded in the name of employment. We neither charge any registration fee nor any training fee from our Digi Saathis. It is very easy to fall prey to the cunning job frauds going on these days, which is why today's post is to alert you.

In today's digital age, where on one hand finding a job has become easier than ever, on the other hand, cases of job fraud are also increasing alarmingly. In such a situation, it has become extremely important for job seekers to protect themselves from these frauds. In this post, we will give you some tips and suggestions that will help you avoid job fraud.

1. Research the company: Whenever you get a job offer, first research the company thoroughly. Check the company's website, online reputation, and social media presence.

2. Beware of overly tempting offers: If a job offer seems too tempting and too good to be true, be cautious. Usually, such offers are frauds.

3. Pay attention to the demand for advance payment: Many times fraud companies demand money from you in the form of registration fee, security deposit, or training fee for the job. In such a situation, be cautious and do not give money without complete information.

4. Protection of personal information: Do not give out your personal information such as a bank account number, Aadhaar number, or PAN card number in a hurry for any job. Share such information only if you are completely confident.

5. Follow the interview process: If a company has given a job offer without any interview, it is a matter of suspicion. Legitimate companies always follow a proper interview process.

6. Check email and contact details: Whenever you receive a job-related email, check the email address and other contact details carefully. Fraud emails are often not official.

7. File a complaint: If you feel that you have become a victim of job fraud, immediately file a complaint with the police and also inform the concerned online job portals.

8. Use networking: Research jobs using your professional network and contacts. Seek advice from people you know and trust.

9. Online reviews and feedback: Read online reviews and feedback about any company. This can help you know the reality of the company.

10. Trust your intuition: Finally, if anything looks suspicious to you, consider it. Trust your intuition and don't make hasty decisions for any job.

Hopefully, these tips will help you avoid job fraud. Finding employment is an important task, but it is equally important to be vigilant and cautious in this process.
